  • A quad is not a toy and can be hazardous to operate
  • A quad handles differently from other vehicles including motorcycles and cars. A collision or rollover can occur quickly, even during routine operations such as turning and driving on hills or over obstacles if you fail to take proper precautions.
  • Server injury or even death can result if you do not follow these instructions.
    • Safe use is not limited to these instructions.

Our safety message

  • Ensure you read and understand the products manual and any labels that are applied to the product.
  • Never operate a quad without proper instruction, beginners should receive training from a certified instructor; take a training course. See our ATV safety training page for an authorised training course nearest you.
  • Always follow the age recommendation: A child under the age of 16 years old should never operate a quad with an engine size greater than 90cc.
  • Never allow a child under the age of 16 to operate a quad without adult supervision, and never allow continued use of a quad by a child if he or she does not have the abilities to operate it safely.
  • Never operate a quad without wearing an approved helmet that fits correctly. You should also wear eye protection (goggles or face shield); gloves, boots, long sleeved shirt or jacket and long trousers.
  • Never consume alcohol or drugs before or while operating a quad.
  • Never operate at excessive speeds. Always travel at a speed correct for the terrain, visibility, operating conditions and your experience. If on the public highway the speed limit must be adhered to.
  • Never attempt wheelies, jumps or other stunts.
  • Always inspect your quad each time you use it to make sure it is in safe operating condition. Always follow the inspection and maintenance procedures and schedules described in the product manual.
  • Always keep both hands on the handlebars and both feet on the foot pegs of the quad during operation.
  • Always go slow and be extra careful when operating on unfamiliar terrain. Always be alert in changing terrain conditions when operating the quad.
  • Never operate on excessively rough, slippery or loose terrain until you have leaned and practiced the skills necessary to control the quad on such terrain. Always be especially cautious on these kinds of terrain.
  • Always follow proper procedures for turning at low speeds before attempting to turn at faster speeds. Do not turn at excessive speed.
  • Never operate the quad on hills too steep for the quad or for your ability. Practice on smaller hills before attempting larger hills.
  • Always follow the proper procedures for climbing hills as described in the manual for the product. Check the terrain carefully before you start up any hill. Never climb hills with excessively slippery or loose surfaces. Shift your weight forward. Never open the throttle suddenly or make sudden gear changes. Never go over the top of any hill at high speed.
  • Always follow proper procedures for going down hills and for braking on hills as described in the product manual. Check the terrain carefully before you start downhill, shift your weight backward. Never go down a hill at high speed. Avoid going down a hill at an angle that would cause the vehicle to lean sharply to one side. Go straight down the hill where possible.
  • Always follow proper procedures for crossing the side of hills as described in the products manual. Avoid hills with excessively slippery or loose surfaces. Shift your weight to the uphill side of the quad. Never attempt to turn the quad around on any hill until you have mastered the turning technique described in the product manual on level ground. Avoid crossing the side of a steep hill if possible.
  • Always use proper procedures if you stall or roll backwards when climbing a hill. To avoid stalling, use the proper gear and maintain a steady speed when climbing a hill. If you stall or roll backwards follow the procedure for braking described in the product manual.
  • Always check for obstacles before operating in a new area. Never attempt to operate over large obstacles, follow proper procedures when operating over obstacles as described in the product manual.
  • Always be careful when skidding or sliding. Learn to safely control skidding or sliding by practicing at low speeds and on level, smooth terrain. On extremely slippery surfaces, such as ice, go slowly and be very cautious in order to reduce the chances of skidding out of control.
  • Never operate a quad in fast flowing water or in water deeper than that specified in the product manual. Remember that wet brakes may have reduced stopping ability. Test your brakes after leaving water. If necessary, apply the brakes several times to let friction dry out the linings.
  • Always use the size and type of tyres and maintain the correct tyre pressure as described in the product manual.
  • Never modify a quad through improper installation or use of accessories.
  • Never exceed the stated load limits for a quad. Cargo should be properly distributed and securely attached. Reduce speed and follow instructions in the product manual for carrying cargo. Allow greater distance for braking.
  • When starting the engine, the battery must be installed correctly to facilitate starting and increase the engine performance.

The safe use and operation of the product is not limited to this list.

Sphere 24 Ltd exonerates itself for the unsafe use and operation of the product. The safe use and operation of the product is the responsibility of the user/purchaser/registered keep. If the product is on demo or loan from Sphere 24 Ltd then the responsibility of the safe use of the product remains with the user.
